The SQ-50

$73.95

The SQ-50 is a 50 -51 mhz horizontal radiating antenna designed for use on the SSB and AM portion of the Amateur Radio band.  Its rated at 1000 watts 50 ohms with a wind rating of 100+ mph. This antenna has a reputation of great performance on 6 meters with many reports of contacts exceeding 1000 miles even when mounted as low as 10 feet above ground level. The SQ-50 mounts with a single U-bolt that fits up to a 1.5 inch mast. The SQ-50, like all KU4AB.COM antennas, is built to last decades from high grade 6061t aluminum rod. Hardware is stainless steel.

The SQ-50, shown here with a SQ-144 and a xcelite nut driver for size comparison, can be easily mounted out of sight in an attic. You can also paint the antenna to help it blend in to its surroundings in areas with restrictions.

The SQ-50 TD: The TD (take down) model of the proven and popular SQ-50 base antenna.. Assembled its 32x32. Its only 16x18 when dismantled for transport. All you need is a straight slot screwdriver or 1/4 inch nut driver and a pair of wire pliers. Take along a camera tripod and set it up in the motel room.

SQ-50 Stack

Stacked

$143.95

The SQ-50 can be easily stacked by mounting a second antenna 12 feet below another and attaching a phasing harness to match the antennas impedance and phase the signals properly. Tuning is easy. Check each antenna for low VSWR, mount them 12 feet apart attach the harness and slide the bottom antenna up or down slightly to the minimum VSWR. Don't forget to tighten each connector and seal the connectors with coax seal or tape to keep water out. When side-mounting as shown below try to keep the antennas 1/4 wave (58 inches) off the tower to minimize interaction with the tower. Closer mounts will work but some distortion to the pattern may occur. The SQ-50 Stack includes two antennas and the harness.
